Playing & Posting Guidelines
ACCOUNTS
Players are required to create an OOC account first before they may post an application. Once the character is approved you may create the character account and begin playing. Don't forget to SET UP YOUR PLOT PAGE if you want to have an outlet for planning future character interactions or mapping out past relationships between characters.
AVAILABLE CHARACTERS
Original characters are always accepted and encouraged.
Those who wish to play a canon character need to check out the CANON LIST to see what characters are still alive after the War of the Lions and available for application. Certain canon characters require administrative permission to apply for them. Playing a canon character requires you to have knowledge of having played Final Fantasy Tactics, or have researched the character very heavily. Please do not apply for these roles if you are not familiar with the characters or the game itself.
Players are permitted to adapt a character from another series into Prayers of Heresy, but they need to be completely rewritten and integrated into the game's world parameters and history. Skills and powers that once belonged to that character might need to be removed or re-written to fit the world. For example, if you were to apply for Korra from The Legend of Korra series, she would likely have to have her skills re-written to fit Ivalice as a Geomancer since an Avatar does not exist in Prayers of Heresy. Her canon history also makes her common-born but you are more than welcome to re-adapt her to being a knight in the royal guard with her parents being that of a lower noble house serving under the former House Beoulve or something to that affect.
If you're confused about any of the character opportunities please ask the administrator or staff members for ideas or further assistance.
CHARACTER LIMITS
All players may have up to 5 characters in play at any given time. Up to 2 of them may be from the CANON LIST. The administrator is exempt from the character limitation rules due to needing to play certain ones to keep the meta-plot moving forward. However they will try to keep that amount to a bare minimum and pass off canon characters to the best suited players when the opportunity arises.
Character churning is not permitted. If we see this becoming a habit with a particular player then they will be put on an immediate 6 month suspension where they can neither apply nor adopt new characters during that time frame.
ACTIVITY CHECKS
These are completed at the end of each month. We ask that you maintain some level of posting activity at least 3 - 5 times a month per character. For players who are driving canon characters or characters with a higher meta-plot responsibility (heads of church or state, etc), we ask that you hover around 5 - 10 per month per character.
If a character fails to meet this minimum count then the first month they'll receive a notice, by the end of the second month the character will be automatically archived without further notice. You may pick the character back up 2 times after it was archived before that character becomes permanently unavailable for you to play anymore.
POST COUNTS
All OOC areas have had their post count feature disabled. You will only garner credit for your activity checks and post-count accomplishments by posting in-character within the designated role-play regions.
POST LENGTHS
There is no set minimum requirement on how long your post needs to be. At Prayers of Heresy it is believed that every post should be properly gauged for length based on the respective material there is to work with. We trust that players here will create quality posts for others to have plenty to work with for adequate responses. Those who short-change others with lack of effort will eventually reap equal results in due time by the player base around them. Therefore, post unto others as you wish to be posted with yourself.
THREAD LIMITS
There are no limits to how many threads you can have your character participating in at any given time. However, please be aware of your time stamps, locations, and character knowledge. Please make sure that that future events or information don't make their way into threads that are time stamped in the past. TRAVEL is also relative, so please reference the map to see if your character can even make it to that location within the time allocation.
AVATARS
All avatar sizes must be 150 x 150 in pixel size and cannot deviate from this size restriction. Prayers of Heresy has decided to use real people to portray character avatars. Check out the FACE CLAIMS to see what has already been taken. You must be able to name the person you are using as an avatar in order for it to be considered acceptable. Face claim reservations are not supported by Prayers of Heresy.
SIGNATURES
We ask that you keep those relegated to your OOC account only. If you feel compelled to have a signature, please make them mostly text-based or with small images (around 100 h x 300 w pixels in size). Please make everything in good taste.
