Using the Zodiac Stones
After the final battle against the Holy Seraph Ultima, the Zodiac Stones vanished from the possession of their immediate human keepers. Ramza Beoulve’s victory over the seraph was so astounding; it traveled down into the depths where the other twelve Espers from the Scions of Light resided. Enraged by the crushing blow, Ultima is once again plotting for her revival onto the land of Ivalice to claim it while the country is still in its feeble state. But this time all twenty-two Espers will be vying to return to the surface through only thirteen stones. Each of them has picked their new host vessel, and it’s a race between the Scions of Light and the Scions of Dark to see who will be successful in possessing their vessel first before their counterpart. This time, there is no meddling Beoulve to get in their way.
- The Lucavi have since adapted to their mortal surroundings. Possession of the body is a slow and progressive one. Once possessed, the character will not be able to revert back to their original selves. Espers from the Scions of Light, on the other hand, permit sharing the host body and can revert back to human when need of their power is no longer necessary for that moment in time.
- The stones feed upon human greed or compassion based on whether an Esper from the Scion of Light or the Scion of Dark has chosen you as their vessel. If your character possesses the correct stone, their desires will intensify depending upon which characteristics they’re possessed with. The administration team will randomly select which characters will become the vessels, and the selection will include main cast and supporting cast members alike. The stones themselves will be randomly dispersed to various locations and characters that may or may not be involved with the Lucavi.
- When the character uses the correct stone, they will be granted certain powers that automatically boost them up to a Divine level in that particular field because your character has now transformed into a Zodiac Brave.
- The only way to revert a Brave back to human form is typically to kill them. How the other characters go about doing this is strictly up to them. If you kill the Brave, you kill the character as well. Espers from the Scions of Light try to keep the host body in tact the best they can; but the ends justify the means in their eyes, and salvation is not guaranteed. Some Espers even have the ability to exorcise Lucavi from another host body without killing them. The administration advises against using a stone on a whim.
- When fully summoned, the Lucavi demon, or Zodiac Brave, will do whatever it takes to summon their intended “master.” Ironically enough, the Scions of Darkness are trying once again to summon their Holy Seraph, Ultima. Meanwhile, the Scions of Light are trying to combat this by preventing the summoning from happening.
